[anuStar] devlog ~05: Goey? and news

Another weekly report is coming~
Last week, Hipon still tweaking the game balance, level design etc. Some things are getting better now. The mechanic become more solid and the dynamics are getting greater. The spawner system comes so satisfying too. But we still discussing for the balancing. Quite hard to finish dat one! Phewww~

But anyway, we're going to make it chaos and lot of humor! You'll find some unique motions from Goey. Like this one ;)

Again, Reijubv must make another sprites for Goey, and Laz still fixing some particle. Clea must compose draft for sfx + bgm stage, and Hipon should implement sprite and next-map-transition. SO much things to do!

Hope everything will done perfectly soon! And see you next week!

[anuStar] devlog ~03: TL;DR on visuals

Ah, Saturday. My turn to post some updates here...

What have been done so far (by visual)...
This post contains many awesome interesting graphics and less texts, so get ready.

 Character/world concepts

Character concept came from a walk in a flooded road, we brought umbrella with us and i thought an umbrella would be a great idea for the character. Then, "parasol" word came to me, then "sol" as in "sun" for the elemental aspect of the main character, thus is fire, and flamethrower. I gave him name "Sol" for ease of use, though maybe there is already too much character named Sol, out there, haha.

That's all unintentional, were randomly picked, came naturally. Also as we don't bother much/picky (yet) with story, i go for my instinct and current interest. As for the enemies, i plan to make them using water-related elements/ symbolism. So it will be like fire vs water.

Some sprites done

(scrapped)

(used and work in progress)

Tileset/map

Early test of tileset/map mock, at first i thought i would revamp Plato project and used the characters and turn them to a bit futuristic, but hipon disagreed with that, but without world concept, i was getting hard time getting idea for the assets, then hipon said "Just make simple a grassland tile." Oh k den, lol.

But later when i came up with umbrella guy concept, hipon came up with city ruins, i came up with sunset and jellyfish.

And here is one of the latest mock screen i made, the color still need correction and tilesets still ineffective. I'm working on it right now.

Bonus GIFs

goeyranger dance for the lulz by reijubv

We got help from reijubv for this project as additional spriter, so i got more time to focus on other things like tilesets and such. Last week i got sick and couldn't really contribute anything so i just dump all old things available, next week hopefully will show significant change. Well this concludes it, i hope we could interest you more with this amount of stuff today. See you next week! (hopefully in time too)

...oh another GIF bonus for ya, because i'm awesome. :P
slowly showing even more custom(crappy)placeholder, better than ripped placeholders though..

The power of Expectation

Hi folks, today i'm bringing personal topic once again, i will write something motivational, or demotivational, or just something people already know, depends on perspective. I am an enthusiastic life observer sometimes, and i do care about psychological thingy, and personality developments.

This post will be asking you lot of questions, but you answer it yourself, or you can share it below (in comment section) if you interested :)

Expectation

courtesy of google search
From the beginning, the moment we were born, or even before we were born, usually people already expect us to be A, B, C, so on. If not our parents, others do. So basically we can't avoid them being there in the first place. We've been living with it, some people need it as motivation, some treat it as great pressure, some other doesn't give a fuck, or choose to not think about it to save energy.

Interested with the topic? Read on! ;)

Gaming Guilt | can i play? no, go to work!

Hi there guys, hours ago i got an interesting topic for blogging, so i decided to write them out right away while i still remember.

sprite taken from Outsmart!
It's about guilty feeling and gaming. Haha i bet you can't guess the relation between them (or not). This is second time i write blog about productivity, previous one is here. It's a bit personal, however, as usual, this might be inspiring for some people with similar/relevant condition, i don't know if it's rare, or it's common feeling that many others feel. But if you ever find that you had experienced it, let me know what do you think and maybe we can share stories! XD

Let's get rockin'.

I will share my own story--how i become a professional game developer. (my pro meaning = make games as living, just in case ppl refer it as 'veteran').

5 Reasons people can't blog, and tips

Hi everyone again, Laz is here. This time i'm not here for game development stuff. Last night i was insomniac that i thought about posting this stuff and today i managed to write a blog.

Taken from Outsmart!
Actually this is more about productivity, but more focused on writing or blogging. I also put some personal experience or story below as "study case". And once again, my English is not good yet not too bad for you to understand, but i hope you can pick something by reading and don't forget to comment and let me know what you think!

These are purely from my thoughts and opinion, and observation of lot of people's behavior, so mind you if i'm not accurate.
So why people are actually can't or "doesn't feel ease" to, hesitated much -edits- even they're actually wanted to blog?

Steps: GUNNHILDR chibi (old)

good day, folks!
this is me again, Lazcht, coming with some old article share from my old and abandoned personal blog called Prey Heaven. i stopped to write on that blog, and decided to focus here instead.

when i looked back what's inside that blog, i noticed i have quite good step-by-step articles back then in years, so i decide to bring some of them here, and maybe will blog the new step-by-steps here sometimes later.

i hope i can help people out there by sharing a bit of my drawing technique. mind that im not thinking like.. im so great & famous artist who wants to teach all of u the right way of drawing technique, or something like that XD all my art skill mainly is self-taught, so this section is simply "my way to do drawing".

2009's Gunnhildr fanart for mazjojo's doujinshi guest art:

note: just in case to prevent confusion, i made these steps the same time i was progressing the art, so if you find"i will put blah blah next time" that's it.

1)2)
3)

4)

  1. just traditional sketch at some random paper, i wanna make them cute but also cool at the same time, practicing action pose on chibi too. pls tell me ur advice, i already asked mazjojo's guidance for the sword's perspective, i'll put my next progress here next time. im planning to ink it digitally, and make it BW artwork.
  2. oomph sorry loong jumping, i did this when i'm on cousin's house and in the middle of rushing mazjojo's deadline -_-; so i don't even remember to save my progresses before this one. let's see. im using the no 1 sketch just for my inking guide at SAI (great software, u can find the trial here ). why not Photoshop? i found SAI's inking tool more sharp than PS's, so i prefer SAI. hmm as i'm not good at inking, i only can say, neater the sketch, easier the lining, that's for me though. i made each character on different layer. unfortunately i've already fill the black part here.
  3. hatching/ shading time! i use different layer here, i often fail at neat hatching, coz i usually draw sketchy lines and ended up messed with hatching. first step i draw lines as mark for the shading border so i wont be confused where i should hatch later. and finally it's done.
  4. final touch? just play around with effects on Photoshop and VOILA! it's done. the logo's not mine btw. hope it helps :)
And that's a bit of nostalgia to me, haha. See ya next time!

Introduction: Lazcht

Folks, it's my time to introduce myself now, i wrote here a lot (actually I was the only blogger for this blog :| ) before but i noticed i never really introduce myself. Hellyea, let's get cooking.

Prologue:

Who the hell?
I'm called Lazcht, and then everyone keep asking who my REAL name was. Duh.. i don't have one! :P I am one of the founder of stellar-0, for now, i'm an artist who is managing some stuff at team.

Currently don't have idea what should i write now, but i ever wrote this 14 facts of myself long time ago from facebook's tag game, so i should copy paste some of this out some of it that's still valid LOL. *warning, i am very good at Engrish*
